About Me

My passion for natural living and earth based medicine began shortly after the birth of my first son, Jensen. My dissatisfaction with his birth experience propelled me on a quest to find an alternative way to live life and heal our bodies.

I have since graduated from Hampshire College with a degree in herbal medicine and child development. I completed a 10 month apprenticeship at the Blazing Star Herbal School as well as a series of homeopathy courses. I am currently studying midwifery at the Womancraft Midwifery School. I am also currently enrolled in several independent courses. In addition I am a certified lactation counselor (CLC) and birth doula. I am CPR certified in adult, child and infant CPR.

Most recently, I gave birth to my second son, Elijah, in my beautiful home. Experiencing such a wonderful VBAC has only reconfirmed my commitment to natural birth and helping other VBAC women.

My Philosophy
I am firmly rooted in my belief that birth is a natural, physiological event that occurs most fluidly when a woman is comfortable and well supported.
I recognize the judicious use of medical interventions as well as the appropriate use of alternative methods. I believe in the power of a woman, her innate knowledge and her capabilities.
I support all women through all of their choices. I support you regardless of your religious, spiritual, sexual, social or personal background.
I support all birth plans whether you wish for a natural birth, medicated, cesarean, VBAC, waterbirth or some combination of all of your options.
From my own experiences with birth I have a particularly interest in working with women who wish to have a vaginal birth after cesarean and in supporting women recovering emotionally or physically from a cesarean.
I am driven by a passion for empowering women. I have seen first hand, the tragedy that can occur when a woman looses her voice, when she becomes a passive bystander in her birthing experience. I have also experienced what happens when a woman is supported in finding her voice, making her own choices, taking control of her birth. I know from my own birth experiences, the traumatic and disempowering side of birth as well as the healing, strengthening and soul defining potential of birth. My first and foremost goal as a midwife and a doula is always to support a mother in HER choices. I will serve as your guide in searching within your soul to find your inner birthing voice, give strength that inner being, and empower you to follow your instincts.
