We are gathered here today as a circle of women, Sharing in the powerful energy of birth and the beginning of life. Today we light this candle for birth, for mothers, for peace. We light this candle for all of the mothers who came before us. Those who have paved the way through their courage, wisdom and grace. To them we are forever indebted. We light this candle for the mothers of today. Those who care selflessly, be it for their own children, adopted children, or anyone who happens to cross their path. Let this light give them guidance and strength. We light this candle for all of the mothers yet to come. Those who are trying to conceive, those who aren’t yet ready and those too young to even imagine motherhood. We pray for their fertility with the hopes that they will birth a brighter generation. We light this candle for every woman sitting here today So that she may find within herself a mother of the past, a mother of today and a mother of the future. Let us find within ourselves wisdom, courage and strength.
