Lactation Support Breastmilk is the ideal food for your baby throughout infancy and beyond. During the first 6 months of life it provides all of the nourishment you growing baby needs. For some women breastfeeding is seamless without any problems along the way. However, most women find that somewhere along the path of breastfeeding they encounter some challenges. Receiving appropriate support can be crucial to the success of your breastfeeding relationship. Fortunately, most breastfeeding problems are quickly resolved. Breastfeeding support sessions usually last 30-60 minutes depending on the severity of the problem and the amount of history involved in the situation. Follow up visits are usually 15-30 minutes. Visits can take place in your home, mine, or occasionally over the phone. Counseling is $50/hour and is pro-rated based on the length of the visit. I accept cash, check, or credit card (via paypal). For current doula clients there is a 10% discount. I am also often willing to work out a barter, payment plan or other financial arrangement if necessary. I do offer a sliding scale for low-income clients. I truly believe that all women deserve breastfeeding support when it is necessary. If you feel you need to utilize the sliding scale please speak to me. (I do not ask for verification of your income, I leave it at the family’s discretion to determine if they need to utilize this service.)
